The Direction of Patents particularly specializes in the preparation, filing, and prosecution of patent applications, utility models and industrial designs, including in this item those applications of national phase field via PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) as of 1995. Moreover, this Direction provides advisory and assistance services in determining the patentability of and invention, filing voluntary amendments, preparing replies in the event of patent rejections and preparing replies to overcome any kind of administrative and technical requirements issued by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (MIIP) or as the case may be by foreign Patent Offices.

To reinforce the above mentioned, this Direction has formed and in-house translation department, constituted by expert translators in different language, most of them having technical professional background in chemistry, electro mechanicals, electronics, biotechnology and related sciences, whose abilities make them capable of handling translations in all fields of science and technology.
